  • 3 ripe bananas (mashed)
  • ½ cup melted butter (or coconut oil)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mash Bananas: In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Stir in melted butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla until well combined.
  4. Add Dry Ingredients: Sift in flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gently fold until just mixed.
  5. Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Pour Batter: Pour into the loaf pan and sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top.
  7. Bake: Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  8. Cool: Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
